Artist: Ficture
Title: 'Tart (Single & Remixes)'
Label: EC Underground
'Tart' is a single with six remixes behind it, and it is Ficture's first record for EC Underground. It also leads 'Grudge Against Beauty', an audio visual album he has on the way.
The Ficture name goes back more than ten years. Two records anchor it: 'Roads To Everywhere' on Lemongrassmusic in 2014, and 'Filled Spaces' on Audiobulb Records, which Igloo Magazine listed among its best of 2018. Fifteen European dates followed that one. Session drumming for Hungarian alternative acts runs alongside the solo records.
The film that runs with the original mix is Márton Gerencsér's work. He animated 3D point clouds of real places so that they move with the audio.
Six remixers were brought in. Roel Funcken is among them, and he is no stranger here: he gave us the world premiere of '4ehmth' and then recorded a Waveform Session for us. Marco Simioni's version is the one we had the exclusive on this morning.
One extra worth knowing about. Ficture has put the master sessions up separately, cleared for use in tracks, remixes and live sets. Seventy WAV files, straight out of the project behind the single. His note on it suggests five dollars and then waves that off: “No pressure: if money's tight, just take it and make something beautiful.”
EC Underground has been running as a label, a collective and an agency since 2018, and we have been through its catalogue before with Gliesse's 'CEERS'.
On pre-order at Bandcamp, where it stays exclusive and half price for a month before it goes anywhere else. Clamp onto it while that lasts.
