Artist: Anish Kumar, DJ GTi & Sofia Kourtesis
Title: 'Radio Nacional'
Label: Select Discs

Three names on one single, and none of them have worked together before this. Anish Kumar, DJ GTi and Sofia Kourtesis met on tour and later booked into Abbey Road Studios to make 'Radio Nacional'. Kumar and DJ GTi split the production and the mix between them, and Kourtesis sings on it. Kumar's own description of it is a track made "with my friends DJ GTi and Sofia Kourtesis". It is out now.

The label is Select Discs, which Gregory Wells started in partnership with Partisan Records. Wells came at it from the business side, with fifteen years of managing artists, plugging radio and doing A&R behind him. Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou and DJ Koze are all on that CV. The label opened its account with altrice's 'think & dream'.

Anish Kumar is the most visible of the three. 'Blackpool Boulevard', made with Barry Can't Swim, went out on Ninja Tune's Technicolour in 2021. The 'Postcards' mixtape came through Patta Collective, and an EP with Baalti followed in 2025. He was reading veterinary medicine at Cambridge through the lot of it, and was still a student there when he played Glastonbury.

Music Discovers You.

DJ GTi is the one you will struggle to find anything on, and that is the point. Partisan's own introduction to him says only that "little is known", and that this is exactly how he wants it. The work is easier to pin down. 'Santa Teresa' was his contribution to Kourtesis' 'DJ-Kicks', and 'enhanced_performance' is his debut EP, which came out of JDM cars, late night street racing and underground car meets, with field recordings from the meets themselves in it. Floating Points and Pangaea have both played its lead single.

Sofia Kourtesis brings the longest history to it. Her debut album 'Madres' went out on Ninja Tune and is about her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer. A track on it is named after Peter Vajkoczy, the neurosurgeon who operated on her. Kourtesis had reached him by posting a snippet of music online and offering to dedicate a record to him in return for a few minutes of his time, and he agreed. The 'Fresia Magdalena' EP, also named for her mother, had come earlier on Technicolour, and 'Volver' followed in 2025. Her 'DJ-Kicks' went out through !K7. She was born in Lima and works out of Berlin.

Technicolour is the quiet common ground here, having taken records from both Kumar and Kourtesis before either arrived at this one. That catalogue has come up on WT before, in our write-up of Jacob Meehan's 'Mini Revelations Remixes', where Dauwd's album for the label gets a mention. For something closer to home, there is also Mike Morrisey's 'About U' for Skream's Of Unsound Mind.

Out now. Grab it off Select Discs on Bandcamp.
