Secret Raver is John Dikxon, a techno DJ and producer from Colombia, based in Brooklyn, where he also promotes events. In 2016 he started Shift, the New York event collective he fronts alongside Adrian Hex, and its nights have landed at Bossa Nova Civic Club and H0L0. His own bookings go back to 2017 and take in ZION and 315 Stagg Street as well.
Most of the records so far are compilation appearances. He sits on the 'Rave' series run by Techno Brooklyn Records, the label arm of the Brooklyn party crew of the same name. PRØVOST runs the label.
Untitled Rhythms has made room twice, too. A various artists set in 2023 and then on the 'Ancient Hypnosis' compilation in 2024, and INFRA gave over a slot on the INFRA04 VA.
Up to now, only one record has been solo: 'Body Mechanic', for Portugal's Diffuse Reality Records back in 2024, a label that also turns up in our piece on ATMTD's 'Stasis'.
'Cybermen EP' is the second solo outing. Three techno tracks and his debut for VANTEK, the label behind a run of warehouse nights in Vancouver, where it joins Lefrenk's 'Permission' and Luis Miranda's 'Santa Paciencia'.
Anecdotally, two of the titles keep up a naming habit: 'SRV-404' and 'SRV-909' put the initials in front of a synth number.
