United is five tracks of techno, out now on Symbolism, and it is Philippe Petit’s second outing for Ben Sims’ label after 2024’s Fossil. Petit is Belgian, out of Brussels originally, though he decamped some time ago to Chamonix in the French Alps. He has been DJing since the early nineties, which makes him a late starter on the release side: his own Knotweed Records launched in 2011, with Decision Making Theory following in 2013 as the home for his own productions.

He carries one of the more crowded names in music. There is a Philippe Petit working in experimental music out of Marseille. Our one deals with it by bolting his adopted town onto everything, which is why his SoundCloud and Facebook both run as Philippe Petit Chamonix.

The EP runs United, Blast, Confused, Unexpected Event and Volatility. Before Symbolism he had put records out through Figure and RSPX, and the label lists early support from Dave Clarke, DJ Bone, Tasha and Blasha & Allatt. Tresor, Berghain and Corsica Studios have all had him behind the booth.
