P-Ben is a DJ and producer from the south of France, and A-TRACTION is home ground. His run on the label’s Bandcamp goes back to ‘File Station’ in 2018, then ‘Adventure of Life’ in 2021, ‘New Horizonte’ in 2023 and ‘The Good Session’ in January 2025.

Away from it he is all over the techno compilations. LW Recordings has carried him at least nineteen times, and Nothing But, Groove Factory and Urban Kickz Recordings have all had him too.

A-TRACTION Records is Marc Ayats’ label, running since 2000, and P-Ben was already one of the names on its roster when we reviewed Intergalactic Noize Commander & Erebos 101 there. ‘Rough of Ride’ is ATRACT0110, four tracks of hard groove, and it is out now.

As mentioned, this is a hardgroove record, and takes in multiple flavours from that remarkably diverse sound. This one has a real Latin sangue coursing through its veins. You know we love this style of techno here at WT, and ’Bailar’ is right up our street for a strong start.

The EP’s title track is up next. ’Rough of Ride’ which again possesses bucketloads of groove alongside a hypnotic key pattern and layered percs, giving the production a hypnotic, tribal quality, that very much sets the pulse quickening.

This carries us perfectly into the forest fever of ‘Gbandy’, which again boasts some incredibly tribal moments, alongside the sounds of a digital glade breaking into rapturous homage to nature. If a druid listened to hardgroove, 9/10 times they would be going absolutely pagan to this track.

To round us out we’ve got ‘Vamos’ which means “come on” in Spanish. This is exactly what you’ll be roaring in your best friend’s face with all the force your lungs can muster, the second this carnivalesque techno romp hits your ears at the dance.
