A-TRACTION Records has been putting out techno since 2000, which makes Marc Ayats’ label one of the longer-standing independents in France. Electro, EBM, acid and Detroit-facing material all sit in the catalogue, and P-Ben, Southsoniks, John Lord Fonda, David Duriez and Elektrotechnik have all filed records there.

Intergalactic Noize Commander is German and keeps a full diary. ‘MEGABREAKZ 06’ went out through Oráculo Records in April 2024, ‘Transcosmic’ paired him with Grid User on Mystic Trax, and he has recorded with Elektrotechnik for Mars Frequency Records on ‘Made In Germany’ and ‘Replikant’. Erebos 101 is Franco-Greek and no stranger to the label, having featured on Elektrotechnik’s ‘Fanatique’ there back in December 2023.

‘Never Too Late’ is the pair of them together, and it is one track worked four ways rather than four separate ideas. It landed on 17 August, digital only, and it is sitting on the label’s Bandcamp page now.

We open with the original cut, a brilliant acid electro workout, complete with vocodered vocals repeating the Never too late, taking the likeness of a malfunctioning cyborg into the quiet of a breakdown before the track cracks back in with a gut-punching drop.

The Alternate Version is out-and-out future breaks. Making the most of that skittering breakbeat, the track builds its energy through the percussion. The First Alpha Version notches the energy up a little with a darker electro edge.

Fans of four-four needn’t worry. You are catered for as well, thanks to the driving techno workout that is the Club Version. It doesn’t lose that electro funk sweat-out vibe, but it layers a shitload of blooming, granular melodic synths over the top of the propulsive percussion. Sweet drop at the 4:25 mark as well to inject your dancefloor with some dark energy. Our favourite on this one.
