Artist: DJ Godfather
Title: 'Step'
Label: Databass Records

DJ Godfather built his last EP on a single drum machine. 'Step' opens the rest of the studio back up, which is how the label puts it. Four tracks, digital only, and a guest on one of them.

Godfather is Brian Jeffries, and he has been through these pages more than almost anyone. We premiered his remix of Orlando Voorn's 'Detroit Is The Name', made both 'That's Right' and 'Get Back' Single of the Week, and took '1000 Musik', the one machine EP, as a First Contact premiere.

The guest here is Blaze, a Detroit artist the label calls a long time cohort, and he takes 'Just Back It Up'. The two have form on Databass already: the 'Oh No EP' was theirs as well.

Beatport files the title track under Detroit electro and the Blaze cut under techno. ‘Round Here’ comes with an OG and instrumental version to close the release.

Away from the EPs there is 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours', the album he put out through Databass, and a collaboration with Dastardly Kids that landed after 'Get Back'. He still runs the label himself.

Out now, digital only, and Beatport is where it lives.
