Artist: Acerbic
Title: 'Doom Circuit EP'
Label: Perc Trax

Acerbic is Ant Wilson, who has been DJing and producing since the early to mid 1990s and first made his name on London's illegal rave scene as DJ Ant. He launched Chicago Loop in the early 2010s for the clubbier end of what he was playing, and still runs it. The harder acid alias came back in 2023, after years away from it. Discogs files a long string of other names against him on top of those two, among them Photosynthesis, Stratosphere and Simple Stanley.

Most of what has followed the relaunch has gone to the acid labels. Stay Up Forever has taken 'In Your Face E.P.' and 'The Acid Union E.P.', Cluster Records put out 'Ready Player One E.P.', and there have been records for Hazchem, Dexstar Recordings, Scythe Squadron and Resilient Recordings. D.A.V.E. The Drummer's Hydraulix has had him too, and he runs Power Tools himself.

'Doom Circuit' has been in Perc's sets for months, by the label's own account, and this is the first full Acerbic EP for Perc Trax. He got there as a remixer first, with a version of Perc's 'Imperial Leather'. Perc is Ali Wells, who started Perc Trax in London in 2004 and added Perc Trax Ltd to it later. The label's note on this one calls Wilson a "UK underground legend" and says the EP is well overdue.

Four tracks, out digitally and on vinyl that Planet Wax is stocking. Acid techno is what the label files it under, and it joins a catalogue we have been through before, from Perc and Barbosa's 'One' to Shaun Moses' 'Nostalgia'.

Out now. Straight from Perc Trax, or Beatport if you would rather.
