Five years into their existence and well over 400 releases deep, Córdoba-based Xelima Records has established itself as one of the most prolific and wide-ranging independent electronic labels operating today.
Their catalogue spans microhouse, minimal, techno, and breakbeat with the kind of restless energy that comes from a label that has never once paused to consider whether it should slow down.
XELIMA BREAKS REWIND is their latest VA, bringing together bruno chaix, rotwang, sinistermind, pharmacy, and hotm for four tracks of breakbeat-rooted sound with a distinctly electro lean.
First up, bruno chaix teams up with rotwang for the acid electro jam that is detail view. This is a superbly dark production, setting the mood perfectly for the rest of the EP. Haunting pads and vocal’s peer briefly through the track’s digital haze, adding to the sombre locution.

sinistermind’s cold heart beats with complex computer rhythms in an unsettlingly sparse composition, whose minimal nature instils a sense of isolation alongside the disquieting vocal refrain.
The proto-garage of cold heart segues nicely into the heavily dubstep-influenced electronics of pharmacy’s true lies. Dense low ends pull down on the skeletal upper register percs, while dubby zaps and synth rises spike at the listener.
We round out with an energetic tone, thanks to the refined electro workout of black smoke rising. hotm pulls no punches with this parting shot right to the solar plexus.
Grab it on Bandcamp. ‘Tis a hot one.
