Shawl has already made his mark on these pages twice; first via his Temple FM/One Clean and then with the Rule of Three/Feels In double header on Hottwerk Records; two releases that demonstrated a producer with a genuine ear for dark, hypnotic house music that earns its impact through restraint rather than brute force. This week he steps up to the Waveform Sessions controls for the very first time.
As one might expect, Shawl’s Waveform Sessions adopts a tone not entirely dissimilar to his productions. House with a techier side is the order of the day, and eagle-eyed fans might notice the deliberate Phil Young connections that pop up throughout the mix too; this is Shawl’s nod to the Get Physical label head following his sad passing.
Plenty of names you’ll recognise in here; get it turned up and give your ass a wiggle for Philip Jung, as Shawl takes to the Waveform Sessions control deck.
