Bella Mode puts her selections down to three rooms: churches, strip clubs and raves. Not a sentence you read every week.

She is Brooklyn based now, and the miles behind that run through Grand Rapids, Detroit, Chicago and Taipei, as a raver and a performer well before any of the DJing. In New York she turns up at Bossa Nova Civic Club, Mood Ring and Jupiter Disco, and she still goes back out to Detroit, Grand Rapids and New Orleans. House, techno, electro, breaks, bass and trance all live in the crates.

There is a record too. ‘Alvarius’ arrived on 6 August 2026, three tracks, built out of Ableton, a TD-3 and her own voice. The title is Latin and it belongs to a toad. Bella Mode says it points at the belly or the womb, and that the three tracks are about death, humanity and womanhood.

She takes the decks at number twenty two.
