A nice quirk to start with. The forthcoming COD3 QR release lands in two separate editions, each with its own catalogue number: a digital version, [QR]D.205.DTON.26, and a vinyl version, [QR]V.205.DTON.26. The same artists feature across both, in the same order, with each one having produced a distinct track for each edition. Two records, one line-up, no overlap.

There’s a fitting symmetry to Voltaire turning up alongside Electric Rescue this week. His French production career started a long way from the usual circuits, self-taught while working professionally as a sound recordist and mixer for film, advertising, and haute couture, and it was COD3 QR that first put his name in front of an audience back in 2021.

Since then he has remixed Laurent Garnier’s Tales from the Real World, released a run of EPs on the label, and put out his debut album, Echoes, in June 2025; twelve tracks drawing on everything from Detroit’s earliest techno through to the electro of the 2000s and 2010s.

This spring he stepped outside COD3 QR for the first time, landing his debut on Electric Rescue’s own Skryptöm with the Signal Return EP. Now the two artists share a release properly, with Some House his contribution to this week’s vinyl edition.

The track says house on the tin but there are certainly flirtations with techno throughout the composition. Yes, as the vocal refrain states, “this is house music”, but this house music is dark, moody, and rough-edged; just how we like it.
