Vincent s.m.b. is Vincent Beckmann, a jazz-trained drummer working out of Hamburg who has also released as Han Duo and DJ Death, with records on Paradoxy, LAP Records and Doom Chakra Tapes along the way.

He is also one half of Jive Circuit, alongside Henry, who records as Henry3000 and Phyzikal Flex, runs Doom Chakra Tapes and has put records out through Warning, Oiwa Records and Magic Carpet. Their 'Slow Talk EP' came out in 2025.

Away from his own music he produces and engineers for other artists, and he holds down an engineering job at Funkhaus Berlin, which is a building worth knowing about.

Franz Ehrlich, a Bauhaus-trained architect and communist, ran it as a broadcast centre in Köpenick. So many people worked at the place around the clock that it even had its own supermarket, clinic and sauna. Broadcasting stopped in 1991, and the halls Ehrlich tuned are still the reason musicians turn up.

Beckmann runs Enbeezee too, a Hamburg label that throws parties in Hamburg and Berlin and presses vinyl alongside its digital releases. The Bandcamp catalogue opens with his own 'Phil In Rio EP' as Han Duo, from 2018, which came out of a trip to Rio de Janeiro and the old samba records he was handed there. That thread has never quite left the label: J g b has the 'Bandeiras EP' and 'Gyra EP' on it, and 'Niterói to Berlin' pairs J g b with DJ Death.

His debut under this name is the 'Dark Vacation EP'. 'The Party Is Over!' is the follow-up. Three house tracks, a sleeve he drew himself, and a Bandcamp blurb from the label that reads, in full: "The Party Is Over! Club music is boring. Thanks for your performance!"
