Jeremy Raskin has spent the best part of a decade building Vijunns into one of Los Angeles' most distinctive audio-visual proponents; a body of work that maps the territory between ambient music and club culture with equal parts emotion and atmosphere.
Alongside his music he has scored festivals for Notch (founder of Minecraft), held down DJ slots at FORM Arcosanti alongside Bonobo and James Blake, and designed artwork for artists ranging from Kehlani to Nils Hoffmann.
His 2025 album Collapse earned widespread critical praise and a premiere on Inverted Audio. 1991 is his latest on his own Hyperreal Projects imprint; released alongside companion piece Void, it continues his fascination with memory, atmosphere, and the emotional afterglow of electronic music.
The single delivers two tracks, opening with 1991; a low-slung breakbeat surrounded by dense low-end frequencies. Shimmering pads join the fray alongside a slick acid lilt, before a lush crescendo carries us out with considerable elegance.
The ambient electronica of Void takes the flip; soaring strings competing for space against an almost benthic bass progression and shimmering pads. Stunning. Turn your sub up.
1991 is out now on Hyperreal Projects. Grab it on Bandcamp.
