Oddysee opened its catalogue in November 2022, and ODDY001 went to Asphalt DJ and Gzardin for Now & Zen. Not a bad way to arrive, and the record drew public praise on Bandcamp from Rhythm Section INTL among others.

Both have stayed busy since. Gzardin put out his first solo EP the following May on Leipzig's R.A.N.D. Muzik, four tracks built on a distinctly nineties frame of reference. Asphalt DJ, now working out of Berlin, has taken two records to that same label and went back to Oddysee last August with Double O. His tracks have travelled a fair distance in other people’s hands too, turning up in Ciel’s Groove podcast, DJ Voices’ Resident Advisor mix, and Daisy Moon’s Fact Mix 900.

Glow Mid started in August 2023 with a first volume shared between the pair and Olsvangèr, and volume two arrived in 2025. Volume three drops to just the two of them again, with the running order split evenly down the middle, with a deep house vein running through the entire production.

Asphalt DJ is first out of the gate with 0016; a deep house number with a solid 4/4 pulse underpinning a stripped back, dubby aesthetic. Just wait for that ass-shakin’ drop at the mid-point that takes us into techier terrain. A stellar start.

The Pale Dreams of Gzardin follow, layering a skittering breakbeat of top-end percs over a deep house kick. An oscillating synth grows in intensity, punctuated by distorted key stabs and string pads. The vocal phrasing that kicks in during the second half is sublime and reminds us of Sun by Caribou.

Mr…. turns the tempo up a notch while maintaining the deep house sensibilities of the previous track. Cavernous bass dwells at the bottom end, with a silken Rhodes line running through the track’s veins.

We’re on a garage house style tip next with Gzardin delivering the goods on LostIn365. What sounds like an indecipherable vocodered element drifts around the upper register while the breaksy drum pattern does its work to keep the rhythm flowing.

The continuing energy comes from the bounding bassline boasted by Som’Tea from Asphalt DJ up next. Dreamy pads float throughout the mix, alongside a summery guitar strum; the perfect track for a sunset session.

Gzardin rounds us out with Baby Steps. Again, we follow a dubby trajectory as a resonant siren blips between insistent kicks, bullfrog-like gulps, and a gloriously string-laden close.
