In the midst of his Four Fridays at Phonox residency during March 2026, Daniel Avery handed the re-rub reins to DJ Stingray 313 for a menacing, slow-burn rework of Greasy off the Racing Line. As expected, Stingray takes an uncompromising stance with his interpretation of the original, taken from Avery’s long player, Tremor.
Stripping away most of Alison Mosshart’s vocals, he fills the space with a thick, viscous bassline and introduces stark, industrial percussion that feels like a nod to the raw intensity of Einstürzende Neubauten. These metallic, clanging textures add a mechanical edge that cuts right through the track.
While the original is a true test of low-end endurance, Stingray pushes things even further. His remix is loaded with aggressive saw-tooth synths that create a high-pressure atmosphere, threatening the structural integrity of even the most robust sound systems.
