Qrion 'Arp Check' release card: the sleeve centred on a teal background. The sleeve is a black and white photograph of a craggy rock face above a concrete walkway, with a teal tinted grand piano tipped at an angle and floating in the middle of it. The Last Night On Earth logo sits on a white panel to the right, above QRION and ARP CHECK in black capitals.

Sasha has run Last Night On Earth since 2011, and Qrion has been on the label several times, including 'Monolith' and the 'MT. DS' EP with Spencer Brown.

Qrion built her name at the melodic end of dance music. Anjunadeep released her debut album 'I Hope It Lasts Forever' in 2021, the same year DJ Mag named her its Future Star. She has since played Red Rocks alongside Porter Robinson.

'Arp Check' is two tracks, and she wrote them for her own sets. Qrion: "This time, I wanted to make tracks that I would personally want to play loud in a club."

Qrion heads into melodic techno territory with the first outing on the EP, which opens with the moody tech-house brooder that is ‘Arp Check’. An (unsurprisingly) arpeggiating bassline fills the low-end frequencies, while a lilting piano motif repeats throughout. It is that acidy little synth that we really love, though. A brilliant a-side.

On the flip we have ‘Khaeng Party’ which boasts a stunning oscillating synth that runs throughout the production. The piano is strong here, too, with a ravey house feel that goes big on the euphoria, especially when combined with the soulful vocal snip and gospel “play it” chant (at least, we think that is what it is saying!).
