Kristin Velvet grew up in rural Australia and took the long way round to Berlin. She started out promoting and DJing in Tokyo, became Domino Records' label manager for Australia, and spent a spell DJing in London before settling in the German capital, where she landed a residency at Watergate. In 2022, Beatport named her its top trending artist in house.

Berlin is also where she joined Arms & Legs, the house and techno imprint Daniel Steinberg and Nils Ohrmann founded in 2011. She co-runs it with Steinberg, and both founders have been on the site, from Steinberg's 'Step With Me Now' single to our premiere with Ohrmann, Enduro Disco and Dompe. 'The Traveller / Joy' is two house tracks. Most of her recent records have been hip house. This one is not.

Her reach goes well beyond the label. Cats Love Velvet, her project with Felix Da Housecat, has run to several EPs, and her solo records have landed on Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Ovum. Mark Broom has remixed her, as have Cari Lekebusch and Louie Vega, and we gave Broom's own 'Reality Check' the full review treatment. She put her whole approach plainly to Beatportal: "I just LOVE the rave!"
