Lyon's Umwelt has been one of the most singular and uncompromising figures in European electro since the early nineties, when he first cut his teeth in the warehouse rave scene of southern France.
The founder of both Rave Or Die and New Flesh Records, his catalogue stretches across seven albums and dozens of EPs, with recent releases on Monnom Black and Shipwrec cementing his status as one of the form's most vital and enduring voices. He contributes two tracks to the fifth instalment of Cultivated Electronics' For the Floor series alongside DJ Mell G, Unklevon, and remixes from Sync 24 and Controlled Weirdness.
Demonstrating exactly why his name commands such respect in the electro community, Umwelt comes out firing on all cylinders with his contribution to the EP, Morphing Sequences. Tight percussion, a gloriously distorted bassline, and more laser zaps than Samus Aran could possibly dodge. Exhilarating electro, as expected.
