Darmstadt-based producer and live act JOIX has been making electronic music for over 25 years, with a sound shaped by the combined influence of Detroit, Berlin, and Frankfurt. His alias carries its own mythology; JO representing the human element (his own initials), IX referencing the fictional machine planet from Frank Herbert's Dune.

A fitting framework for music that has always existed at the intersection of organic and mechanical, then. He returns now to his own Jericho Sounds imprint with Fiction; the second half of a two-part concept project.

JOIX's brand of cinematic techno shines through Birth Machine. The track builds steadily on a bathyal bottom end, hypnotic bit-crushed pad swells emerging among the Dionysian percussion as the journey unfolds. Music that genuinely takes you somewhere.
