The DirtBirdz are David Byrne and Ian Ball, and between them they have better than twenty years behind the decks in Dublin. They play back to back, they sample live while they are at it, and the crates run from house and disco through hardgroove and techno. So Loco was the club night for years. The Grooveyard is the radio show now.

The records go back a way too. Day and Night Recordings had the ‘Dice’ EP, and they have been on Distrackt Records since October 2019, when ‘Jack That Body’ went out with a Dorbachov remix on the back of it. They came back for remix duty on Brotherhood of the Wolf’s ‘Machine Error’ EP, then ‘Attack Formation’ landed in March 2023 with two versions from Stevie Wilson, and ‘Jawbreakerz’ came after that.

Distrackt Records was put together in Dublin, out of the city’s own techno scene, and the catalogue since has taken in Brotherhood of the Wolf, AnD_oR, Oisin, Flechtheim, Alessandro Rizzi and Dorbachov.

Now they have built one of their own. WYTE LBL is theirs alongside Simon Foran, Angel Currao and Declan Coleman, and the name is the entire pitch: the unmarked twelve you pull out of a rack with no idea what is on it. Irish names and international ones, and the remit runs across industrial techno, acid, jungle, bass and dubby house.

‘Warcrimes’ opens the catalogue. Five tracks, out on 11 September 2026, and ‘Death March’ is track one. First record on a brand new label, first track on the record, and you are getting it five days early. Blistering techno from the Dublin duo.

Listen to our exclusive world premiere above. As usual, you heard it here first. ‘Warcrimes’ lands on 11 September 2026 and Beatport has it on pre-order now.
