Blake Baxter was in the room when Detroit techno started, one of the first wave of producers and DJs the city sent out in the 1980s, even if his name gets said less often than the Belleville Three.

His first single, 'When We Used to Play', came out on Kevin Saunderson's KMS label in 1987, and he was among the Detroit artists on the 1988 compilation 'Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit', the record that carried the word techno across to Europe. More followed on Incognito and Underground Resistance, including his 'The Prince of Techno' EP, which borrowed the nickname his peers had already hung on him.

That Detroit start turned into a Berlin one fairly quickly. Baxter built a long relationship with Tresor, the club and the label both, playing there as a resident and putting out records through the 1990s, the Dream Sequence albums among them.

'One More Time' comes from that stretch. Tresor dates the recording to a 1992 session at Love Park Studio in Berlin, though the tracks were not released until 2002, when the label issued them as the sixth entry in its Archiv series.

The B-side is where the other names come in. Both mixes there, the 'Red Planet Remix' and the 'Acid Mix', were reworked by Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann, who added production of their own. By then the two had been recording together for Tresor as 3MB, a project whose releases included an album with Juan Atkins. Von Oswald was the label's in-house producer and one half of Basic Channel. Fehlmann came up in the post-punk group Palais Schaumburg and later joined The Orb. Their versions put two of Berlin's central studio figures on a Detroit record.

This digital reissue is part of Tresor's ongoing move back through Baxter's catalogue for the label. The label says 'One More Time' and a companion release, 'Deep N Da Groove (RMX)', are the two that close the campaign out. It is out now. Buy it over on Bandcamp.
