Artist: BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL
Title: 'Dual Orbit'
Label: HYBRID SPASM
BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL are selling 'Dual Orbit' whole or not at all. Every track on the EP comes as two versions, as a streaming cut and as an extended mix. The Bandcamp package adds an extra mix of 'You N Me' with the vocal lifted. None of it can be bought a track at a time, flying in the face of the “disposable media” trend humanity has sunk into.
Refusing to split a record is the label's decision, and BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL own HYBRID SPASM. It has been running since 2023, and they told Beatportal what they wanted from it before it existed.
BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL: "We wanted a safe zone to experiment, evolve, and expand our realm of sound."
That interview also named the only act they have ever called an artistic influence. They found Paranoid London on record in 2018 and have been swapping music with Quinn ever since, though they have still never met.
'LOUI3' opened the HYBRID SPASM with two distinct versions, a short and extended edition, and 'Cosmic Ritual' and 'Funk System' came the same way this year. 'You N Me' went out as a single ahead of 'Dual Orbit', so part of the EP is already in circulation.
Their previous release prior to 'Dual Orbit' was the 'Higher Power EP', out on Ben Sims' Hardgroove, and we covered it at the time. Blasha & Allatt closed a set at Berghain with '1-800-DIVA' from it, and the duo keep the clip on their own site.
